Adlington Carnival Returns for Summer 2026

Adlington Carnival is returning for summer 2026, continuing a tradition of over 50 years.

It promises to be a lively weekend of fun with community stalls, a fairground, a dog show, food and drink, and on-stage entertainment.

The carnival will also feature the beloved parade of local community groups and businesses with decorated floats, dance troupes, and trucks.

Adlington Community Events

The carnival is organised and run by Adlington Community Events (ACE). Established in 2022, they are made up of volunteers and members of the Adlington community.

Mellony Baron, Vice Chair of ACE, said the group was formed by people who are “passionate” about Adlington and who “wanted to do the history, the community and the town proud” by bringing “fun and togetherness to the community”.

Economic Benefits and Fundraising

The carnival also raises money for local charities and causes, with all collections from this year’s parade being donated to Adlington Inspire Youth Zone. Previous parade collections have supported Derian House, Chorley Women’s Centre, and Friends of Adlington Library.

Adlington also experiences further economic benefits. “The town’s economy is boosted when it is carnival weekend,” Mellony said. “People spend money and this is re-invested into the local economy”.

This is due to the large number of people who visit the local pubs, restaurants, shops, take aways, and taxis during the carnival weekend.

Community Pride

It is impressive that ACE and Adlington Carnival bring the local community together, in a world that at times feels increasingly divided.

It is due to the combined efforts of volunteers, local businesses, and the local community who not only run the logistics of the carnival but also create its spirit. Houses on the parade route are decorated, local businesses sponsor, hundreds of people gather to watch the parade and take part, and the carnival field comes alive.

“Come and enjoy the carnival. Be part of a community who respect and uphold the history of the carnival but also embrase [sic] the future,” Mellony said. “We thank everyone who comes. We appreciate the time and organisation, whether it’s being part of the carnival or as a member of public enjoying everything”.
